Oman Dental College faculty member receives prestigious British award


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Dr Thillai Viswapurna, lecturer at Oman dental College was recently awarded the prestigious 2017 Patricia Santos Memorial Scholarship worthy merit award.

This award is presented to candidates achieving the highest aggregate scores by the end of the second year of their three year Advanced Minimum Intervention Dentistry (AMID) Masters programme at King's College London Dental Institute at Guy's Hospital, London, UK.

Professor Avijit Banerjee, programme director for the flexible-learning MSc in AMID, said, 'To be considered for this award and indeed winning it is a considerable achievement. It highlights the level of Dr Thillai 's enthusiasm, clinical and academic endeavour throughout the course. I personally expect her to use this as a platform upon which she can build her successful clinical, academic and research career in MI Dentistry."

Dr Thillai said, 'AMID holds the future of dentistry and I consider myself fortunate for having enrolled in the programme.

'I am truly honoured to receive the scholarship award and I dedicate it to my mentor prof Banerjee. I am extremely grateful to the unconditional support, guidance and encouragement from Oman Dental College and in particular from the dean Dr Rahul Arora, Dr Mohammed al Ismaily, chairman, and Saleh al Harthi, director of administration.'
