(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) recently inaugurated the first National Symposium on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Management (NSETEM-2017) in the college premises.
Prof (Dr) S L Gupta, dean and chairperson of the symposium, WCAS, H E Indra Mani Pandey,India's Ambassador to Oman, Rafael Parambil, CEO, SME Development, keynote speakers, staff members and students. He congratulated the students, staff, government and people of Oman on the National Day and wished His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said a long and healthy life. He said, 'Our college has reached heights of great success.
This symposium is organised to provide a platform to the students of higher education institutes and universities through research paper presentations and poster presentations by students of engineering and management.'
H E Pandey thanked prof (Dr) Gupta and NSETEM committee members for organising the symposium. He emphasised that students can get benefitted by using such a platform where they can present their innovative ideas in the field of engineering and technology. He wished for the success of the symposium. WCAS annual report 2016-17 and International Journal of Applied Sciences and Management, Volume 2, Issue 2 were released by the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony.
Dr Vijaya, convener of the symposium, thanked the chief guest, dean, sponsors, committee members and students. The symposium was sponsored by Areej Vegetables, Bank Muscat, Khimji Ramdas Group, Malabar Gold and Cochin Gold.
The five keynote speakers were Dr Salah al Majeed, head of Engineering, Military College, Dr Lamya Adnan al Haj, College of Sciences, Sultan Qaboos University, Dr Pankaj Sah, Higher College of Technology, Muscat, and Dr Sujeet Sharma, Sultan Qaboos University.
Students' achievement for the last three years from 2014-2017 was also presented during the inaugural ceremony.
These keynote speakers shared their thoughts on key issues with the students and staff members.
