(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have shot dead the Laghman prosecutor in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor's spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Sheikh Mujeebur Rahman was gunned down by unknown motorcyclists on his way home on Monday evening.
He said Mujeeb, 42, a resident of Khogyani district, had served as prosecutor for Nangarhar and Kunar. His current assignment was in Laghman.
He added security force had launched an investigation into the incident. More details would be shared with media later on, the spokesman promised.
Separately, a food contractor was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Batikot district. A reliable security source, who declined to be named, said the victim supplied food items to Achin district as well.
