Lufthansa and EasyJet offer for parts of Alitalia

(MENAFN) German carrier Lufthansa and the British EasyJet are both making offers to buy parts of the Italian airline Alitalia.

Lufthansa said it looks forward to establish a "new Alitalia", but only showed interest in parts of the airline, while EasyJet said it also was interested in "certain assets of a restructured Alitalia".

Alitalia said it had gotten 7 offers by the deadline on Monday and would now review them, and the Italian government had pushed back the deadline to April 2018, to decide on the sale.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Lufthansa offer was worth 500m Euro, but will possibly be rejected as the authorities in Rome had in mind selling the airline's property as a whole package.
