Oman- Ahli Sidab Club finalises karate championship for 10 years and below


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Ahli Sidab Club finalised its third national championship for karate at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher which was organised by Shotokan Karate Center, a part of Ahli Sidab Club.

The championship was conducted under the auspices of Dr Juma bin Khamis bin Hamed al Mikhaini, advisor of the Oman National Committee for Education, Science and Culture under the Ministry of Education, and Sayid Ayman bin Hamed bin Humood al Busaidi, director of Sabco Group of Companies.

More than 270 male and female players participated in the championship. These players represent 18 national clubs and private centres from different parts of the sultanate. The championship was conducted and supervised by 21 referees under the rules and regulations of the World Karate Federation (WKF), and the referees were Asian referee Fareed al Shuhaibi, international referee Ahmed al Zakwani, Asian referee Khalid al Balushi, Asian referee Ali al Raeesi, national referee Iqbal al Balushi, national referee Navas Mokeri, national referee B L Azad,international referee Yusuf al Siyabi, international referee Hilal al Abdali, Asian referee Said al Thihli, Asian referee Faris al Busaidi and the national referees Mohyi Lutfi, Abdullahal Siyabi, Hilal al Hidaifi, Ahmed al Alawi, Ahmed al Shahi, Munthir Bilal, Mohammed al Wehaibi, Nassr Abbas.

The championship included powerful contests between the competitors which made the whole event outstanding for top standards of the players in the two fields of (Kata) and (Kumite) for individuals and teams. At the final stage of the competitions on the second day, the two sponsors awarded the top three winners from each age group.

All the members and administrators of Ahli Sidab Club thank ed the Omani Karate Committee represented by its head Brigadier Abdul Malik bin Ghassan al Mazruee and the committee secretary general Ali bin Hamed al Mawali and the rest of the Omani Karate Committee members for their immense effort to raise the standard of Karate in the sultanate and for the services provided to make the championship successful.

They also thanked the manager of Al Amal Club for Deaf and Dumb, Yunus al Hooti, and the members of Al Amal Club for hosting the second championship for the age group of 11 years and above. Mokeri, Siyabi, Abdali, Bilal, Ahmed al Siyabi and Wehaibi are doing their best to develop this sport through their supervision of such championships and facilitating everything for the players of the club. The committee has also recommended the active participation and collaboration with other clubsand centres.
