(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Tourism's (MoT) social media channel – 'Experience Oman' has won the Gold Award in the Best Use of Social Media category at the recently held MENA Digital Award in Dubai.
The award was received by H E Maitha Saif al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Tourism on the sidelines of ministry's participation at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), stated a press release.
The 'Experience Oman' social media pages were launched by MoT in September last year, on popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+ and YouTube. Experience Oman channels are available in multiple languages and have already seen great audience-interaction, courtesy their highly engaging content.
Launched with the aim to complement 'Oman Tourism's existing social media channels, which focus on the ministry's activities, services and provide general information related to upcoming projects that will help achieve the ministry's strategic goals - the 'Experience Oman' pages update followers and travel enthusiasts on the different touristic marvels of the sultanate.
Asma Salim al Hajri, assistant director general for International Tourism Promotions & Marketing said, 'Social Media is fast growing in importance, and is playing a compelling role in promoting activities related to the tourism sector. We are hence constantly looking for new ways to innovate and offer travellers experiences that suit their requirements.'
In keeping with the ministry's 2040 vision of attracting more tourists, the Experience Oman pages focus on showcasing the sultanate's best experiences, as well as providing tourists with the necessary information required to visit and experience them. The MENA Digital Awards (MDA) are a bespoke awards show whose purpose is to promote digital innovation and media in the MENA region.
