Amman, Jan. 23 (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army on Monday, bestowed the highest military honor upon the Royal Medical Services (RMS), established in 1941.

In a ceremony held today, in the presence of a number of Royal family members and top civil and military officials, His Majesty presented the Supreme Commander's flag to the Royal Medical Services in recognition of its efforts and contributions in the medical field.

Upon arrival for the ceremony, the King received an official welcome that included a 21-gun salute by the artillery.

His Majesty also inspected a medical exhibition that reflected the advanced level the RMS has reached. The exhibition included a 50-bed mobile field hospital that includes emergency, operations, ICU wards as well as clinics, and labs that are provided with modern military equipment.

The handing over of the banner is a show of appreciation for the bravery and sacrifices offered by members of army units and their role in defending the country and is part of continued efforts by King Abdullah to recognise the various units of the army.

In remarks during the ceremony, the director of the RMS voiced pride of members of the RMS, one of the formations of the Armed Forces, for receiving the flag. He pledged that the RMS will continue to provide the best medical services to citizens.
