250 fake olive oil cans confiscated in Amman

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 23 (Petra) -- Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) inspectors seized 250 cans of fake olive oil that were falsely sold in Amman over the past two weeks as "extra virgin".

JFDA Director, Hayel Obeidat, told Petra that the adulterated amount of oil was "diluted or mixed with other liquids or colors so as to give the natural color of (genuine) olive oil", a highly-demanded product in the Kingdom.

Violators exploit the olive harvesting and pressing season to sell false oil brands, Obeidat said, urging people to buy the oil from credible and reliable sources and not to be deceived by advertising.
