KSE closes past week's trades on mixed board

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Past week's trades at the Kuwaiti bourse were mixed with blue-chips posting further gains due to selective purchase, according to Al-Oula company's report released on Saturday.

Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) closed on Thursday with the benchmark rising 9.9 points to 6,377. Weighted index inched up 0.77 and Kuwait-15, 1.1 points. Value of trades amounted to KD 18.98 million, while volume turnover reached some 242 million, done in 5,034 deals.

Banks' quarterly positive reports have caused operational stocks to rally, coinciding with noticeable purchase targeting "popular chips," buoyed by speculators' activity and profit-aimed sales.

Positive activity targeting the cheap chips was partly attributed to settlements made by some companies on their debts and those of their subsidiaries. (end) mke/tb.rk
