French Minister visits HEC Paris in Qatar

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) HEC Paris School of Management hosted a conference by Matthias Fekl, French Minister for Foreign Trade, Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, during his recent official visit to Qatar.

Fekl reviewed economic relationship between France and Qatar and stressed the strength, trust and long-term prospects of what he described as a strong partnership. He discussed the current economic situation in France and ongoing reforms to reduce unemployment and increase competitiveness.

He said the reform agenda is comprehensive and had been praised by Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in its last report. Fekl said reforms were yielding initial results with important further gains and momentum this year.

Fekl explained that France is an open economy where foreign investment plays a key role. Foreign companies in the French economy represent 30 percent of industrial investment, 30 percent of research and development and one-third of French exports. He said France welcomes Qatari investors and is seeking to attract more Qatari projects. Top officials, executives of public and private firms and HEC Paris alumni were present.
