Jordan's King, French Pres. discuss regional issues over phone


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Jordan's King Abdullah II on Saturday received a phone call from French President Francois Hollande, discussing regional issues of common interest.

"Both sides underscored the necessity of concerted efforts regionally and internationally to combat terrorism and extremist thinking which target all countries and pose a threat to stability and security across the globe," the Royal Diwan said in a statement.

The two leaders discussed also developments related to achieving peace in the Middle East and solving Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the two-state solution and resolutions of international legitimacy, it added.

King Abdullah II underlined the necessity of Israeli commitment to stop its provocative actions against occupied Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque and its attempts to change the status quo there, the statement noted.

According to the statement, King Abdullah II and Hollande reviewed the situations in Syria and Jordan's efforts to host Syrian refugees. They also discussed ties of mutual cooperation and ways of strengthening them in different domains.

For his part, Hollande hailed Jordan's efforts in combating, along with the international community, terrorism and King's endeavors to achieve a comprehensive and fair peace in the Middle East, it pointed out.
