(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Madrid May 03 - Athletic Bilbao will play in the Champions League next season after they won Saturday 3-0 against Rayo Vallecano.
Mikel San Jose Oscar de Marcos and Ander Herrera scored the three goals to confirm that Bilbao will be at least fourth in this season's La Liga. They are nine points away from Sevilla with three games to go. However Sevilla would lose to Bilbao on head-to-head record. Sevilla drew 1-1 with Bilbao then lost 1-3 in their latest encounter and Bilbao collected 68 points this season.
Next season will be the first return for the Basque team to the Champions League after a 16-year absence.
