Former Barcelona Manager Undergoes Emergency Operation


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Barcelona April 25 - Barcelona FC former coach Tito Vilanova who managed to guide the team to the league title before resigning foe health reason is in a critical condition after undergoing an emergency operation.

Vilanova 45 years old suffered throat cancer back in 2011 which he managed to recover from. However he was diagnosed in 2013 once more with cancer this time in the parotid gland.

Before guiding Barcelona to the league title Vilanova was Guardiola's assistant during Barcelona's record-breaking reign. He was part of the coaching staff when the Catalan team won all six competition they entered in 2009.

He was replaced by current coach Gerardo Martino when he resigned.
