Jordan- Court Sentences Syrian Drug Dealer to 7.5 Years with Hard Labour

AMMAN — The Court of State Security (SSC), Tuesday, handed a Syrian refugee a 7.5-year sentence in jail with hard labour and a fine of JOD5,000 for possessing 23,000 Captagon pills- an amphetamine-based drug- at his Zaatari refugee camp house.

During a public hearing, the SCC's issued a ruling of 15 years with hard labour in prison and a fine of JOD10,000, before it commuted its verdict for mitigation reasons.

The defendant, in his thirties, was convicted guilty for possessing drugs for trafficking purposes.

The Anti-Narcotics Department officers received a tipoff that the offender had drugs in his house.
