George Galloway gets arrested after returning from Russia

(MENAFN) Upon his return from Russia on Saturday, George Galloway was momentarily arrested at Gatwick Airport under the provisions of the Terrorism Act. As stated by his Workers Party of Britain.

The former MP, a 71-year-old man, was arrested with his wife by officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command. Although police confirmed the incident, they have not verified that Galloway was the individual who was arrested.

A Met representative said “we can confirm that on Saturday, 27 September counter-terrorism officers at Gatwick Airport stopped a man in his 70s and a woman in her 40s under Schedule 3 of the Counter Terrorism and Border Security Act 2019. Neither of them were arrested and they were allowed on their way.”

In a post on X platform, the Workers Party of Britain verified that their chief and his wife were arrested, labeling the event a “politically motivated intimidation” effort. The party stated that it did not get direct “information on charges or alleged offences.”
