Zelensky Meets With Bipartisan, Bicameral US Congress Delegation

"We are very grateful for the bipartisan support over all these years. Grateful to the American people, grateful to the President. Yesterday we had a good conversation," Zelensky said.

He noted that his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump focused on strengthening Ukraine and finding ways to end the war.

Senator Coons said that the delegation's main interest was to learn how best the United States could assist Ukraine, whether through financing, weapons, or intelligence support.

Zelensky briefed the delegation on the situation at the front and outlined Ukraine's defense needs, stressing that air defense and a reliable shield over Ukraine remain top priorities.

He added that this year Ukraine will introduce a UN resolution condemning the abduction and deportation of children, and expressed hope for U.S. support in this effort.

In this context, Senator Blumenthal explained that he and Senator Lindsey Graham had introduced legislation to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism if it failed to return abducted Ukrainian children.

The participants also discussed the importance of strengthening sanctions against Russia, using frozen assets, and expanding cooperation with the U.S., particularly in the field of critical minerals.

Representative Kim noted that this was an area of growing priority for her committee, which had recently secured additional support for expanded security partnerships in this sector.

Members of the delegation stressed that this meeting once again demonstrated the unwavering bipartisan and bicameral support for Ukraine from the United States.

Zelensky is on a visit to New York to participate in high-level events of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
