Palestinian Foreign Ministry expresses its gratitude

(MENAFN) The Palestinian Foreign Ministry expressed its gratitude on Tuesday to the countries, regional, international, and UN bodies that rejected plans to forcibly displace Palestinians from their homeland. In a statement to Anatolia, the Ministry thanked those who have stood against forced displacement and called on other nations to issue clear public statements in line with international law and legitimacy. The Ministry reaffirmed its strong opposition to the policy of displacement, condemning it as a form of ethnic cleansing. It further emphasized that such actions aim to create Political and security instability in the region, destabilizing both the Middle East and the world.

The Ministry called for immediate international measures to end Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories, in accordance with the United Nations General Assembly resolution that supports the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice and UN Security Council Resolution 2735. UN Security Council Resolution 2735, adopted on June 10, 2024, urged Hamas to accept a proposed prisoner exchange agreement and a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed interest in having Egypt and Jordan accept more Palestinians from Gaza, a proposal both countries rejected. Trump also planned to discuss the matter with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is set to visit the U.S. soon. Egypt's Foreign Ministry issued a statement rejecting the violation of Palestinians' rights through settlement expansion, annexation, or forced displacement, warning that such actions would destabilize the region and hinder prospects for peace.

Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also reiterated on Sunday that Jordan's position against displacement remains firm, asserting that peace can only be achieved by resolving the Palestinian issue on Palestinian land. The United Nations similarly opposed any forced displacement of Palestinians, with spokesman Stephane Dujarric declaring during a press conference on Monday that the UN stands against plans leading to the forced displacement or ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from Gaza.
