G20 merchandise shipments rise by 0.4 percent in Q3

(MENAFN) G20 merchandise shipments rose by 0.4 percent in the Q3 of 2024 from the prior quarter, based on recent Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) data published on Tuesday.
The data improved from stagnation in the second quarter, the Paris-based institution stated.
Its products imports increased 1.5 percent quarterly in the period from July to September, up faintly from a 1.3 percent surge in April-June.
Merchandise shipments jumped 2.5 percent in the US in the Q3, due to robust trade in capital products, such as semiconductors.
Canada's shipments surged 0.9 percent in the three months to September because of greater sales of mineral goods and consumer products.
The European Union recorded a 1.8 percent jump in merchandise shipments with major participations from Germany (pharmaceutical goods) and Italy (clothing as well as food articles).
In Asia, Japan's overseas exports increased 4.9 percent, supported by electrical and metalworking machinery and scientific apparatuses.
