BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 11. Kyrgyzstan
presented a unique pavilion in the form of a traditional yurt at
the international conference COP29, Trend reports.
The traditional yurt, which has served the nomadic peoples of
Central Asia for centuries, symbolizes sustainability and harmony
with nature. Kyrgyzstan, through this symbol, seeks to emphasize
the importance of preserving cultural heritage and an ecological
approach to the development of mountainous regions.
Kyrgyz Ambassador to Azerbaijan Maksat Mamytkanov told Trend
that all materials used in the design of the pavilion are
environmentally friendly.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN
Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) has started in Baku.
The decision was made at the plenary meeting of COP28 held in Dubai
on December 11 last year.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement
signed at the Rio Earth Summit in June 1992 to prevent dangerous
human interference in the climate system. The acronym COP
(Conference of Parties) means“Conference of Parties” and is the
highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the
Framework Convention on Climate Change.
A total of 198 countries are parties to the Convention. Unless
the parties decide otherwise, COP is held annually. The first COP
event was held in March 1995 in Berlin, and its secretariat is
based in Bonn.
