Turkmenistan's Foreign Policy Prioritizes UN Cooperation - Serdar Berdimuhamedov

The development of multifaceted strategic cooperation with the United Nations (UN) is a key priority for Turkmenistan's foreign policy, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Kazan, Trend reports.

"Today, the advancement of multifaceted strategic cooperation with the UN is one of the priorities of our country's foreign policy. Turkmenistan fully supports the international community's initiatives to ensure peace, security, and sustainable development under the auspices of the UN," the president said.

During the meeting, both sides shot the breeze about the current state of bilateral relations and kicked around opportunities for further collaboration. President Berdimuhamedov is convinced that the results of this meeting will light a fire under long-term partnership, giving it a fresh lease on life.

The UN Secretary-General emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's efforts in the areas of ecology, health, and sustainable development.

To note, the plenary session of the XVI BRICS summit is taking place in the capital of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. The meeting is attended by leaders of the CIS countries, delegations from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, as well as heads of executive bodies of a number of international organizations.
