Azerbaijan Revamps 26-Kilometer Section Of Alat-Astara-Iran Highway

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. The State Roads
Agency of Azerbaijan has completed an overhaul of the
217-243-kilometer section of the Alat-Astara-state border with the
Islamic Republic of Iran highway, Trend reports.
According to the information, this section, 26 kilometers long,
was improved by the third technical category. The width of the road
has been increased to 12 meters.
Excavation, drilling works, widening works to obtain the
normative width of the road, construction of the foundation, and
laying of new asphalt concrete pavement were carried out along the
road following the technological sequence. Construction of drainage
pipes and ditches was completed.
The existing bridges over the Pensarchai, Archivanchai, and
Astarachai rivers were overhauled under the project.
The construction works were carried out following the
requirements of“Construction Norms and Rules," by the planned
schedule, and with high quality.
At the final stage of the project, bus stops, road signs, and
horizontal marking lines were installed, after which the road
meeting modern requirements was handed over to citizens for
use.
Reconstruction carried out on this section of the
Alat-Astara-Iran main road will provide comfortable movement, and
facilitate transportation of cargo and passengers.
