BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Azerbaijan
ranks ahead of two-thirds of the world's countries in this year's
Sustainable Development Report, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun
Bayramov said during his speech at the Future Summit, organized at
the UN Headquarters as part of his participation in the "High-Level
Week" of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Trend reports.
Bayramov emphasized the nation's extensive reconstruction and
recovery efforts, valued in the tens of billions of US dollars,
aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
"The liberation of territories from occupation has paved the way
for progress in reaching these goals. Additionally, Azerbaijan has
introduced SDG18, a national initiative focused on combating the
threat of landmines. We call for increased international support
and solidarity, highlighting that demining is crucial for
addressing urgent humanitarian needs and ensuring livelihoods.
Azerbaijan is one of the few countries worldwide to have
submitted multiple Voluntary National Reviews under the 2030
Agenda, being the first in the South Caucasus to do so,” the
minister added.
