Azerbaijan Ranks Ahead Of Significant Portion Of Countries In Global Sustainable Dev't Efforts - Minister


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Azerbaijan ranks ahead of two-thirds of the world's countries in this year's Sustainable Development Report, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said during his speech at the Future Summit, organized at the UN Headquarters as part of his participation in the "High-Level Week" of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Trend reports.

Bayramov emphasized the nation's extensive reconstruction and recovery efforts, valued in the tens of billions of US dollars, aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"The liberation of territories from occupation has paved the way for progress in reaching these goals. Additionally, Azerbaijan has introduced SDG18, a national initiative focused on combating the threat of landmines. We call for increased international support and solidarity, highlighting that demining is crucial for addressing urgent humanitarian needs and ensuring livelihoods.

Azerbaijan is one of the few countries worldwide to have submitted multiple Voluntary National Reviews under the 2030 Agenda, being the first in the South Caucasus to do so,” the minister added.
