Uzbekistan, Iran Discuss Development Of Bilateral Co-Op


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 19. Uzbekistan and Iran discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, Trend reports.

The matter was reviewed during a meeting between Chairman of Uzbekistan's Chamber of Commerce and industry Davron Vakhabov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iran Fariddin Nasriyev, Chairman of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture Samad Hassanzadeh, as well as Ambassador of Iran to Uzbekistan Mohammad Ali Eskandari.

In addition, the meeting was attended by representatives of about 15 Iranian companies operating in the textile industry, construction materials, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare.

During the meeting, the sides discussed expansion of trade ties, an increase in the volume of trade turnover, as well as issues related to problems in export and import between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the foreign trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Iran amounted to $255.8 million from January through July 2024. This is 17.2 percent less compared to the same period of 2023, when the trade turnover amounted to $299.9 million.

Thus, Iran has become one of the 20 largest trade partners of Uzbekistan.
