Iran, Iraq Hold Constructive Talks On Energy Sector


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. The Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani and Iraqi President Masoud Pezeshkian held constructive talks on cooperation between the energy, oil refining, and private sectors of the two countries, Trend reports.

Among the topics covered at the discussion was the forthcoming Joint Iraqi-Iranian High Commission meeting in Baghdad and the deepening of cooperation in the two nations' mutual interests.

Iraqi Prime Minister brought up the Basra-Shalamcheh railroad project during the meeting, highlighting the Iraqi government's commitment to modernizing this route and its use for passenger transportation between Iran and Iraq.

Iranian President also stressed in the meeting that Tehran is interested in developing economic relations and joint work between Iraq and Iran.

To note, the Iranian president, accompanied by high-ranking personnel, made his first foreign visit to Iraq on September 11. The Iranian President's visit will last three days.
