Russia’s top MP visits Algerian president

(MENAFN) Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin recently concluded a significant diplomatic visit to Algeria, where he met with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and other high-level officials. During his visit, Volodin emphasized the importance of enhancing inter-parliamentary relations and advancing bilateral trade ties between Russia and Algeria.

The discussions between Volodin and Algerian leaders encompassed various aspects of cooperation, including trade, legislative support for strategic agreements, and regional issues affecting Algiers. Volodin highlighted the substantial growth in bilateral trade, noting that trade volume had increased by 2.2 times, amounting to $3.765 billion by the end of 2023. This growth underscores the deepening economic ties between the two nations.

Central to the discussions was the implementation of a strategic partnership agreement signed during President Tebboune's visit to Moscow in June the previous year. Volodin emphasized the importance of legislative measures to support and facilitate the execution of this agreement. He also stressed the need for sustained efforts to foster positive outcomes through new collaborative formats, drawing parallels with Russia's successful engagements with other countries.

The visit underscored Russia's commitment to strengthening its relations with Algeria across multiple fronts, from economic cooperation to strategic partnerships aimed at addressing regional challenges. Volodin's meetings in Algeria reflect ongoing efforts to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation, paving the way for further collaboration in the future.
