Pakistani Forces Kill 3 Militants Infiltrating Borders With Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, July 22 (KUNA) -- Security forces of Pakistan killed three "terrorists" who were trying to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border into Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, said the military on Monday.
According to Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the movement of the terrorists was detected in Dir district of KPK bordering Afghanistan.
The infiltrators were surrounded, effectively engaged and after an intense fire exchange were killed.
"Pakistan has consistently been asking the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border," said ISPR.
It further said that the interim Afghan government is expected to fulfill its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
"Security forces of Pakistan are determined and remain committed to securing its borders and eliminating the menace of terrorism from the country," the release concluded.
The infiltration attempt came days after the Pakistan Foreign Office served a strong demarche to Afghanistan over a terror attack in Bannu district of KPK killing eight soldiers of Pakistan army.
Pakistan attributed the attack to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group which operates from inside Afghanistan and urged the recurrence of such attacks against Pakistan using the territory of Afghanistan. (end)
