Victims of Myanmar flood receive critical assistance from donors, rescue teams

(MENAFN) As catastrophic floods ravage central Myanmar, thousands of residents are receiving critical assistance from donors and rescue teams. The floods have inundated the Magway region, with the water levels in the Ayeyarwady River surpassing warning marks in several towns, as reported by the country's Meteorology and Hydrology Department.
Hnin Nwe Soe, a resident of Magway township, described the current flooding as unprecedented, noting that the water level has risen more rapidly than in previous years. "I have experienced flooding before, but this year's rise was much faster," she said. Hnin Nwe Soe, who has three children, quickly moved her family to a safer location as the floodwaters began to rise. She has been unable to go to work due to transportation difficulties caused by the flooding, but she appreciates the aid she has received. "Rescue teams have helped us move our belongings, and generous donors have provided us with clothes, food, and shelter," she explained.
Myat Mon, 35, also from Magway town, shared that this is her second encounter with severe flooding, the first being five years ago. She and her family are currently living in a temporary tent set up on the road. "I have survived thanks to the food and support from donors, including clothing and money, which have been a great help," Mon said. She expressed her sorrow over the tragedy, noting the financial strain due to her inability to work amidst the flooding.
Meanwhile, Arr Puu Tuu and his team from Yangon have been actively assisting flood-affected areas. They have been distributing essential supplies such as rice and drinking water to villages near the Ayeyarwady River in the Magway region. Their door-to-door efforts are providing much-needed relief to those struggling in the wake of this disaster.
