Hezbollah group announces targeting of Israeli settlement of Dafna with rockets

(MENAFN) On Saturday, the Lebanese Hezbollah group made a significant announcement regarding its recent military actions against Israel. The group reported that it had targeted the Israeli settlement of Dafna with dozens of Katyusha rockets for the first time. In their statement, Hezbollah emphasized that this assault was a direct response to an Israeli attack on civilians in the town of Borj El Mluok, located in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah’s targeting of Dafna marks a notable escalation in their tactics. The group described this as a deliberate inclusion of the settlement in their list of targets, signaling a possible shift in their strategic approach. This attack involved a substantial volley of rockets, underscoring the intensity of their response.

Earlier, Lebanon’s National News Agency had reported that an Israeli drone had struck an empty four-wheel-drive vehicle on the outskirts of Borj El Mluok. This strike resulted in injuries to several Syrians from shrapnel, with children among the wounded. The report highlighted that the injuries occurred near a tent where the affected individuals were living, adding a layer of civilian distress to the situation.

As of now, there has been no official comment from the Israeli military regarding Hezbollah’s rocket attack on the Dafna settlement. The lack of response from Israel leaves the situation in a state of heightened tension and uncertainty.

The escalation in hostilities comes against a backdrop of increased conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, raising fears of a more extensive and potentially devastating war. This period of heightened conflict follows a deadly Israeli offensive on Gaza that began last October. The offensive has resulted in a staggering number of casualties, with over 38,900 people reported dead, following an initial attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas. The recent exchange of cross-border attacks between Israel and Hezbollah further exacerbates the already volatile situation in the region.
