Bazar Masjid Blaze: Jamiat-Ahle-Hadees Alleges Conspiracy, Seek Impartial Probe


(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Alluding to a plot by those with vested interests, Jamiat-Ahle-Hadees J&K has sought an impartial probe into the devastating fire incident at Bohri Kadal area of the old city that left property worth crores destroyed.

The religious organization claimed that the fire broke out at the female compartment of Bazar Masjid, which quickly spread to surrounding structures, damaging property worth crores.

“On Monday at about 3:30 pm, I heard a noise and noticed smoke emanating from the mosque in the aftermath. When I went to enquire, I could not see anything due to smoke, all I could see was raging flames. It seems like some combustible substance was sprinkled in the female compartment,” Bazar Masjid office bearers told the media.

As an apolitical organization, Jamiat-Ahle-Hadees offers free education to kids who want to acquire Islamiyat, he informed, promising to assist an impartial probe into the devastating blaze.

Another member said that the Bazar Masjid that was completely destroyed in the blaze, was built some eighty years ago and the then Mirwaiz Kashmir, Molvi Ahmadullah tasked Ghulam Nabi Mubarki to deliver Friday sermons there.

“The fire broke out at the female compartment of the mosque and there were no LPG cylinders nearby. While we are grateful to Allah that the children attending the seminary are safe, we also feel sorry for those poor individuals who have lost their shelters,” he added.

It's worth mentioning that historic Bazar Majid, around a dozen residential structures and as many shops were gutted in the aftermath of the devastating blaze that fire broke out on Monday.

“We request that a thorough inquiry be ordered into the incident that resulted in the mosque fire, which quickly spread to other buildings in the crowded area. We would be grateful to the administration if the origin of this mysterious blaze is determined and those found to be involved are brought to justice,” they said.

They added that a similar tragedy occurred at Bazar Masjid in November last year and that they are astonished by another incident of such a catastrophic nature.

Congregational Friday Prayers To Be Held As Per Schedule

As a remarkable display of resilience and unwavering faith, people in Bohri Kadal in Srinagar are set to gather for Friday prayers at the historic Bazar Masjid tomorrow days after a devastating fire ravaged the area.

The fire, which occurred on June 24, caused extensive damage to the historic mosque, two shopping complexes and over a dozen residential houses, leaving the community in disarray.

Despite the extensive damage, the spirit of the community remains unbroken.

Maulana Peer Rehmatullah confirmed that the Bazar Masjid will host Friday prayers as per scheduled.

“Insha Allah, Friday namaz will be offered at Bazar Masjid tomorrow as the cleaning drive is underway,” he said, as per news agency KNO.

The Bazar Masjid, a cornerstone of spiritual life in Bohri Kadal, has been swiftly cleaned and prepared to welcome worshippers.

“The khutbah will start at 12:15 PM and the namaz will commence at 1:15 PM,” Moulana Peer Rehmatullah added, highlighting the determined efforts to restore their place of worship in time for the congregational Friday prayers.

Patiently, the commitment to maintaining religious practices amid the destruction underscores the community's resilience. The reopening of the mosque amidst the charred remnants of the fire is a powerful testament to the community's unyielding faith.

Volunteers and residents have come together in solidarity, working tirelessly to clean and repair the mosque, demonstrating their commitment to their faith and each other.
