Aqaba Unveils New Tourism Identity "By Nature, Website To Highlight Attractions

Aqaba, June 27 (Petra) - The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority has launched a new tourism identity for Aqaba, dubbed By Nature, alongside a tourism website, aiming to spotlight the landmarks of Aqaba and Wadi Rum, their captivating natural beauty, hospitable residents, and key tourist experiences.
The launch event was hosted by the Chairperson of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Nayef Fayez, and attended by representatives of the tourism sector and enthusiasts. This transformative concept for the Aqaba region is supported by the "Encouraging Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises for Employment" project, implemented by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It embodies the expertise of the Tourism Directorate of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and its dedication to the region.
A distinctive introductory video showcased the newly launched website (), featuring smooth and engaging photography. The website highlights interactive features, comprehensive information about tourist attractions and offerings in the Aqaba region, and an easy browsing experience for visitors.
The event also presented the new tourism identity of Aqaba, paving the way for an innovative and comprehensive marketing strategy for the region, in alignment with the Authority's strategy for 2024-2028, which supports the Economic Modernization Vision.
The new identity emphasizes Aqaba's local culture, providing unique and inclusive experiences for all visitors. It positions Aqaba distinctively in a competitive market by integrating tourism businesses. Aqaba's natural treasures remain key attractions, while the new identity enhances the city's visibility and enriches its experiences with various tourism activities such as diving, community tourism, and bird watching.
Fayez stated that the new identity, By Nature, showcases Aqaba's aesthetics, tranquility, and strong connection with its residents. It is essential to present Aqaba as a distinctive tourist destination, highlighting its natural and human elements, marine environment, and pristine beaches. This will ensure Aqaba remains an attractive destination, particularly for the spring and summer seasons.
He added that the new tourism brand aims to enhance Aqaba's status as a tourist hotspot, supported by a website that offers immersive experiences showcasing Aqaba's heritage and tourism events.
During the event, the Aqaba Bird Observatory was celebrated for winning second place in the Environment and Climate category at the Berlin International Travel and Tourism Exhibition 2024, reflecting Aqaba's commitment to becoming a green destination as per its agreement with the Green Destinations Organization.
Commissioner for Economy and Tourism, Hamza Haj Hassan, emphasized Aqaba's dedication to sustainable tourism, particularly after adopting the green growth strategy roadmap. Various sustainability initiatives are being introduced in line with international standards, such as the Green Fins Initiative for local diving centers, the Green Key Initiative for the hospitality sector, and the Blue Flag Initiative for beaches.
The Aqaba Economy and Tourism urged everyone to contribute to creating a greener and more sustainable future for the region, successfully combining tourism and environmental protection.
