WhatsApp tests new feature allowing users to call unsaved numbers

(MENAFN) WhatsApp is testing a new feature to simplify in-app calling, allowing users to make calls directly without saving numbers in their phone's address book.

Since its launch, WhatsApp has been a go-to platform for voice and video calls, as well as messaging, offering a convenient communication method worldwide.

Previously, making calls to unsaved contacts required saving the contact in the phone's address book or starting a conversation first, which could be inconvenient.

To address this, WhatsApp for Android is developing a new calling tool within the app, making it easier to call numbers not saved on the phone.

This new tool is expected to appear as a floating action button within the calls tab on WhatsApp for Android.

Once available, this feature will enhance the convenience of WhatsApp calls by enabling users to call directly from the app without needing to save the contact on their smartphone.

Pressing the button for the new tool will bring up a window similar to the phone's dialing interface, allowing users to dial a number without saving it first.

This feature, spotted in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android "2.24.13.17," will be useful for making quick calls to new or temporary contacts that you do not wish to store in your phonebook.
