Amman, June 22 (Petra) -- Minister of Public Works and housing Maher Abu Al-Saman Saturday checked on progress of work on a vital bridge interchange linking downtown Amman to eastern parts of the capital and the city of Zarqa.
The minister was briefed on the JD12 million project, which connects the eastern Amman areas of Marka, Al-Hashemi and Tabarbour and Zarqa, will be completed in the third quarter of the year, according a Ministry statement.
The Slaughterhouse Interchange consists of a main 280-meter bridge with two loop bridges at a length of about 400 meters for traffic coming from Marka to downtown Amman, and a bridge ramp for traffic from Zarqa to Marka, Tabarbour and Nakheel Street.
The new bridge will ease traffic movement to and from Amman and the Amman-Zarqa Rapid Transit Bus route, and ensure a smooth flow of vehicles in the previously congested locations.
