(MENAFN- UkrinForm) "Naftogaz" is signing a number of agreements in Berlin, in particular to decarbonise the Ukrainian energy sector.
Oleksiy Chernyshov, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz, told Ukrinform in a commentary to Ukrinform.
According to him, the interests of the Naftogaz Group cover several areas: cooperation in terms of equipment, hydrogen transportation and storage, development of a decarbonisation strategy, etc.
"We need to take care not only of the present, but also believe in the Victory and start building a new energy system that will be based on a decarbonised basis. We are already starting to do this. Prior to the conference, on 10 June, we signed an agreement with the European Investment Bank. Tomorrow (11 June), we plan to sign an agreement with Siemens and other companies," Chernyshov said.
He noted that Ukraine needs to restore energy supply given the huge electricity shortage. In these circumstances, the state has set a course to support electricity generation using the Gas-to-Power system, i.e. electricity generation using gas. In this situation, the country will need larger volumes of gas to ensure this.
"Naftogaz" is ready for such a scenario. The company guarantees that it will provide Ukraine and Ukrainians with additional gas volumes to support power generation. This is exactly what we are working on now," the CEO stressed.

Chernyshov noted that recovery conferences are certainly critical for the development of our country both during and after the war. The current conference will not be the last one, he added.
The Naftogaz CEO also emphasised the role of Germany, a country "without which Ukraine's future is impossible".
"Germany's support and role in rebuilding and, most importantly, in supporting reforms in our country is key," Chernyshov said.
Germany, he said, includes large energy companies, technology companies, and mechanical engineering - things that are so necessary for the reconstruction of our country.
As reported, the Conference on Reconstruction, the third of its kind since the war, will be held in Berlin on 11-12 June . The energy block is one of the most important at the event, with more than 2,000 politicians, businessmen, experts, and civil society representatives taking part.
