Azerbaijan Seeks To Gain Latvia's Agricultural Know-How - Deputy Economy Minister UPDATE


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. Azerbaijan isinterested in gaining knowledge from Latvia in the agricultural andother economic fields that could be developed in the liberatedareas, Azerbaijani Deputy Economy Minister Sahib Mammadov said atthe Azerbaijan-Latvia Business Forum, Trend reports.

“In Latvia, 30 percent of the land is allocated for agriculturaldevelopment. We are keen on adopting this approach as we aim toincorporate Azerbaijan's newly liberated territories into theagricultural cycle,” Mammadov said.

He brought out the fact that 48 Latvian businesses are active inAzerbaijan at the moment, with a heavy emphasis on the agriculturalsector.

During the business forum, Raivis Kronbergs, State Secretary ofthe Latvian Ministry of Agriculture, highlighted that Latvia isalready exporting dairy and fish products to Azerbaijan and aims toexpand cooperation in these areas.

“We want to sign a memorandum of cooperation, which will broadenthe base for cooperation,” Kronbergs emphasized.

Executive Director of the Export and Investment Promotion Agencyof the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO), Yusif Abdullayev, said hewould like to participate in the upcoming Riga Food 2024 exhibitionthis year.

According to Romāns Naudiņš, the Latvian External Adviser to theMinister of Agriculture, this forum in Baku marks the inauguralgathering for Azerbaijani and Latvian companies primarily focusedon the production or processing of agricultural raw materials, withthe potential for further meetings due to the substantial scope formutually beneficial collaboration.

To note, five meat production companies, along with firmsinvolved in fertilizer and fodder production, participated in thebusiness forum from Latvia.

Representing Azerbaijan at the event were Azersun, Veysaloglu,AZZA, Gubre (fertilizers), SABA Group, Karvan-L, Bilasuvar Agro,and other entities.
