Azerbaijan, Georgia Discuss Issues Regarding Implementation Of Black Sea Energy Project

Azerbaijan's EnergyMinister Parviz Shahbazov met with Georgia's First Vice PrimeMinister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, LevanDavitashvili, in Tbilisi, where topics of discussion includedsetting up a joint venture for the Black Sea energy project and agreen energy corridor to transport green energy from Central Asiato Europe, Trend reports via the Energy Ministry ofAzerbaijan.

The sides discussed the significance of the Azerbaijan-BlackSea-Europe Green Energy Corridor (Black Sea Energy) project, alongwith measures taken by Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary toadvance the project. They also addressed the process of obtainingPCI/PMI status and matters regarding the fiber-optic component ofthe project.

"Parties advocated for expediting the project and discussedcollaboration with international energy companies and financialinstitutions," the press release noted.

The sides expressed confidence in the forthcoming seventhministerial meeting on green energy development and transmission inTbilisi on May 15–16.

To note, the Black Sea Energy project aims to transport greenelectricity from future wind farms in the Caspian Sea to the EU viacable through Azerbaijan and Georgia, extending along the Black Seabed to Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Further details regardingtiming and costs will be clarified following the completion of afeasibility study by the end of 2024.
