ADB Negotiates Sustainable Procurement Action Plan Cooperation With Azerbaijan - Official

ADB is negotiatingwith Azerbaijan to develop an action plan for cooperation insustainable procurement, ADB's Deputy Director General and ChiefProcurement Officer of the Asian Development Bank's Procurement,Portfolio and Financial Management Department Jeff Taylor toldreporters, Trend reports.

"We are holding consultations with the Azerbaijani government."Then, based on that, we will create an agreement and an actionplan. ADB has conducted diagnostics in this area in Azerbaijan procurement is a developing practice. I can think ofIndia as an example. India has introduced green professionalcertification for environmentally friendly products. There areseveral similar initiatives, and we are looking at themopportunistically. When we see them, we will support them. We willbe more than happy to support Azerbaijan. I am sure thatinitiatives worthy of additional support and attention are beingimplemented there," he said.

To note, the theme for the 57th Annual Meeting to be held fromMay 2 through May 5 is“Bridge to the Future.”

The opening session of the Board of Governors will take place onMay 4. The opening session marks the official start of the annualmeeting. It is a high-profile event attended by the guest of honorfrom the host country. Remarks will be made by ADB PresidentMasatsugu Asakawa the Minister of Finance of Georgia and Chair ofthe ADB Board of Governors, Lasha Khutsishvili.

The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for ADB governors toconsider development issues and challenges facing Asia and thePacific. Several thousand participants, including financeministers, central bank governors, senior government officials,members of the private sector, representatives of internationalorganizations and civil society organizations, youth, academia, andthe media, regularly join the meeting.
