Kazakh President Reveals Number Of Evacuated People As Result Of Local Floods

Over 119,000people were evacuated as a result of floods in Kazakhstan, thecountry's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the XXXIIIsession of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan with the agenda'Unity. Creation. Progress', Trend reports.

"In the hour of trial, our entire society rallied. As a resultof the coordinated actions of the government, state bodies, andspecialized services, as well as the assistance of volunteers, morethan 119,000 people, including almost 45,000 children, were timelyevacuated. We managed to save lives, and that's the main thing," henoted.

According to him, Kazakhstan faced a devastating naturaldisaster that affected half of the country.

"But in these difficult days, the unity of our people wasvividly demonstrated: rescuers, volunteers, civil servants,military personnel, law enforcement officers, civic activists,representatives of business, and youth. No one stood aside from thecommon cause. The spirit of unity and solidarity embraced allregions of the country," added Tokayev.

To note, the floods in Kazakhstan began in March. Emergencysituations were declared at the local level in eight regions of thecountry. Tens of thousands of people were involved in rescueoperations.
