Turkmenistan Takes Active Position In Dev't Of Transport, Transit Corridors


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 15. Turkmenistantakes an active position in the development of transport andtransit corridors, Trend reports.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, announced thisat the XXXVIII Conference of Heads and Responsible Representativesof Railway Transport Enterprises of the Organisation forCo-operation between Railways (OSJD) member nations.

"Turkmenistan takes an active position in the development oftransport and transit corridors, including in matters ofcooperation at the UN and other major international organizations independent country has put forward a number of constructiveinitiatives and numerous relevant resolutions in this direction,"he said.

The President noted that in different years, the UN GeneralAssembly adopted Resolutions submitted by Turkmenistan on 'Role oftransport and transit corridors in ensuring internationalcooperation, stability, and sustainable development', 'Towardscomprehensive cooperation among all modes of transport forpromoting sustainable multimodal transit corridors', 'Strengtheningthe links between all modes of transport to achieve the SustainableDevelopment Goals', 'Strengthening the links between all modes oftransport to ensure stable and reliable international transport forsustainable development during and after the coronavirus disease(COVID-19) pandemic'.

Berdimuhamedov further noted that a resolution establishing'World Sustainable Transport Day' had been adopted, designatingNovember 26th of every year as the commemorative date for thisoccasion.

Meanwhile, the 38th meeting of the Conference of heads andresponsible representatives of railway transport enterprises of themember countries of the Organisation for Co-operation betweenRailways (OSJD) began its work in Ashgabat city today, which willlast by April 19.

The event is attended by heads and high-ranking representativesof railway departments from 19 OSJD member countries, as well asobservers from four countries: Finland, France, Germany, andGreece.
