Govt of UP Issues Advisory To Police Against Registering Frivolous Criminal Cases On Business Owners Lucknow, Aug 19 (KNN)
Following complaints of harassment by Police post- accidents in factories or filing of criminal cases against entrepreneurs, Government of Uttar Pradesh has issued an advisory to Police and Administration.
The Director General of UP (DGP) Police Prashant Kumar issued the Advisory recently to all Senior Police Officials of the State to ensure that owners and senior functionaries are
not harassed following filing of cases, many a times frivolous ones, against the business.
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Uttar Pradesh had complained that police hold owners culpable if any accident occurs in the industry without analysing its cause.
The standard practice of the UP police is to immediately lodge FIR against the owner of industry.
Federation of Indian Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) had written to DGP, UP highlighting the demand of MSMEs in this case.
“Unfortunately, if any accident occurs in industry, the standard practice of the UP police is to immediately lodge FIR against the owner of Industry without analyzing the cause of accident. As a result, instead of helping the injured person and his family, the owner is put under tremendous stress to save himself first,” said the MSME representative body.
The Principal Secretary Home (Police) had already issued instructions to ward off such malpractices under UP subdivision-3 vide Order No 2282P/Chh-P-3- 2018 Dated 3.10.2018.
“We had emphasized the urgent need to ensure that the communication reached to the Police hierarchy and followed in letter and spirit. We are thankful to GoUP for responding swiftly,” said, Anil Bhardwaj, Secretary General, FISME.
MSMEs have pointed out that news of harassment of businessmen create a very negative image of the State that is trying to attract investment from all over the world and make it a one Trillion Dollar economy.
Police has a pivotal role in restoring the confidence of citizens and investors, said FISME.
