Iran, Pakistan transform relations into strategic allies with regional interests

(MENAFN) The interweaving of Iran-Pakistan economic, security, as well as transit connections has taken the two nations' relations outside their immediate surroundings and transformed them into strategic allies with regional interests.

With almost 900 kilometers of shared border, both nations may work together more closely in areas such as transit corridors as well as bilateral commerce.

With the goal of strengthening mutual connections, Iranian Leader Ebrahim Raisi and Pakistani Primer Shehbaz Sharif opened the Mand-Pishin border market and the 100-MW Polan-Gabd power transmission line in mid-May.

High-ranking representatives from the two nations attended the inaugural ceremonies, including Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Power Minister Khurram Dastagir, as well as the country's Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.

Following the projects' opening, Raisi and Shehbaz met at the Pishin-Mand border crossing in Sistan-Baluchestan region to discuss the expansion of commercial relations. This was the third summit among both nations' leaders in the last year.
