Sheikh Hamad Award For Translation Discusses Arabic-Sindhi Translation Prospects

islamabad: as part of the cultural season associated with 9th round of the sheikh hamad award for translation and international understanding, and on the occasion of adding the sindhi language to this round, the award discussed the translation between the arabic and sindhi languages and its prospects.

this came during a cultural tour carried by the media team of the sheikh hamad award for translation and international understanding in pakistan, to examine the current status of translation between the arabic and sindhi languages, and to explore prospects for cooperation between the actors in this field.

the tour included a number of meetings, meetings and dialogue sessions in universities and institutes that teach the arabic language, and deal with translation between the arabic and sindhi languages in karachi and hyderabad, the home of the sindhi language in pakistan. academics, translators, representatives of research institutes and institutions, and university students participated in the tour.

on this occasion, the media advisor for the award, dr. hanan al fayyad, praised pakistan's efforts in sponsoring and disseminating the arabic language. she touched base on the goals of the award in encouraging cultural exchange among peoples, honouring translators, and enriching the library with good titles in arabic and other languages of the world.

for his part, sheikh yunus rabbani, representative of the director of the abu bakr islamic university in pakistan, talked about the history of the university, which specialised in the sciences of the noble prophet's hadith, interpretation and other religious sciences.

he indicated that the base of beneficiaries of the university's services expanded through the establishment of the secondary scientific institute, the arabic language diploma, the department of memorisation of the quran, the division of ifta, translation, investigation, and islamic economics, all in parallel with the translation of these sciences from arabic into sindhi and urdu.

rabbani explained that the scientific services of the university have expanded to include the establishment of many islamic branches, schools and academies, including aisha al-siddiqa university for girls.

talking about translation, rabbani said that the first translation of the meanings of the vocabulary of the holy quran into the sindhi language, then the persian language, was made in the third century of migration, followed by translations of the prophet's biography.
