Tajikistan Attaches Great Importance To Amir's Visit, Says Tajik Minister


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Tajikistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin said that his country attaches great importance to the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Tajikistan.
Speaking to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said: "We underline with satisfaction the development of relations between our countries. In the years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, mutual high and senior level visits laid the foundation for multifaceted co-operation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Qatar.”
“At the same time, we highlight the immediate role of political dialogue between the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in the process of expanding and strengthening co-operation between the two friendly countries,” he added.
Muhriddin highlighted the continuous development in the co-operation between two countries in political, economic, investment, social, cultural, education, healthcare, tourism and other spheres aimed at fulfillment of aspirations of the two nations.
"We give high priority to further development of mutually beneficial relations and expansion of long-term partnership with the State of Qatar," he added.
He pointed out that the two countries have established fruitful co-operation in the framework of international and regional organisations, including the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC), the Asian Co-operation Dialogue, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO), and reiterated his country's commitment to further enhance Qatar-Tajikistan engagement on issues of bilateral, regional and international importance.
Muhriddin noted the constructive role and contribution of Qatar to ensure peace and stability in the region, saying: "During the last decades Qatar established stable platforms for addressing global issues and created favourable condition for hosting international events. These all confirm the leading role of Qatar not only in the region but also far beyond."
He explained that Qatar and Tajikistan interact in the framework of different globally recognized platforms, noting that the role of Qatar in advancement of Dushanbe Counter-Terrorism Process, which enabled Tajikistan to explore ways of joint approach to common threats, is of particular importance.
The minister reaffirmed Dushanbe's readiness to expand co-operation with Qatari side in the field of maintaining regional security and promoting sustainable development, to provide logistics for humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan, and to co-operate constructively with Qatar in this issue.
Muhriddin referred to the ample opportunities of the two countries for enhancing trade and investment partnership, stressing the importance of applying new and up-to-date tools such as economic incentives and business preferences, joint thematic market oriented exhibitions and promotion of direct links between the business communities of our countries.
He cited the presence of Qatari Diar company in Tajikistan and its direct investment in Diar Dushanbe real estate project, which is unique in Central Asia.
The minister also underlined the close work on the content of the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, slated for September 2023, in particular to introduce action oriented road map on co-operation in the field of industry, water resources, energy with special focus to renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, full processing of cotton fibre, leather, fruits and vegetables, as well as in the areas of information technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
On the sidelines of the Commission's next session, he added that the organisation of a business forum of entrepreneurs of the two countries and the setting up of the Qatari-Tajik Business Council would be an effective tool for the development of trade and economic co-operation.
