Chelsea to Host First-Ever Open Iftar at Stamford Bridge

(MENAFN) Chelsea Football Club will be hosting its first-ever fast-breaking or iftar meal at their home ground, Stamford Bridge, on March 26. The event will take place a few days after the Muslim holy month of Ramadan begins on March 23 and will continue until April 21, which marks the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday. According to a statement released by the club on Monday, the event will be held in collaboration with the Ramadan Tent Project, an award-winning charity founded in 2013 with the goal of bringing communities together and fostering an understanding of Ramadan.

The iftar meal will be held at the side of the pitch at Stamford Bridge and will be open to a number of local mosques and members of Chelsea’s Muslim community, including supporters and school students, as well as Chelsea FC staff. Chelsea Foundation head Simon Taylor expressed his delight at organizing an open iftar and extended a warm welcome to everyone who will attend.

The event is part of Chelsea's "No To Hate" campaign, which was launched in 2021 as the club took action against racism, hate speech, and discrimination, while promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. The club's decision to host an iftar meal is a testament to its commitment to promoting cultural understanding and inclusion, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, a time of reflection, community, and generosity for Muslims worldwide.

By organizing an iftar meal, Chelsea is joining a growing list of football clubs around the world that are embracing Ramadan and promoting inclusivity. These initiatives are an important step towards creating a more diverse and tolerant football community, where individuals of different faiths and backgrounds can come together and celebrate their shared love for the beautiful game.
