Ukraine unblocks political decisions on six types of crucial weapons for armed forces

(MENAFN) According to a tweet from Ukrainian Minister for Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine has unblocked Political decisions on six out of seven types of crucial weapons needed by the country's Armed Forces. The only weapon that remains is combat aircraft. Kuleba stated that "every discussion about supplying Ukraine with a new, crucial kind of weapon started with a ‘no’ and ended with a ‘yes’."

This news comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed British MPs in Westminster Hall, calling on Great Britain and the international community to create an "aircraft coalition" to provide Ukraine with combat aircraft to defend against Russian aggression.

The Ukrainian government has been seeking to bolster its military capabilities amid ongoing conflict with Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine. In recent years, Ukraine has received military aid from the United States, including anti-tank missiles and other weapons.

Kuleba's tweet indicates that political obstacles to obtaining certain types of weapons have been overcome in the past year. The details of the weapons that Ukraine has unlocked political decisions on have not been specified.

The ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine has led to a significant loss of life and displacement of civilians. The situation has escalated in recent months, with Russia amassing troops near the Ukrainian border and conducting military exercises in the region. The Ukrainian government has called on the international community for support in its efforts to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
