Pakistan mosque explosion death tool rises to 88

(MENAFN) The death toll in a terrorist invasion on a mosque in Pakistan increased to 88, with a rescue operation carrying on, as denunciation poured in from around the globe on Tuesday.

Over 300 worshippers were praying in the mosque in Pakistan's north-west city of Peshawar after the bomber exploded an explosive vest on Monday.

The explosion ripped through the mosque, murdering and wounding scores and also blew off a part of the roof. The invasion was one of the biggest in the nation in ages.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated the blast was “abhorrent” and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken sent his condolences for the “horrific attack”.

“Terrorism for any reason at any place is indefensible,” he added.

The Saudi Embassy in Islamabad condemned the invasion. The US Embassy announced “the United States stands with Pakistan in condemning all forms of terrorism.”

The UAE declared it strongly refuses “all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability in contravention of human values and principles,” according to the Foreign Ministry.

“The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and its people and to the families of victims of this heinous crime, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured,” it went on to state.
