Stoltenberg and Christerson discuss Sweden's membership in NATO


(MENAFN- Hip Hop-24) NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that he discussed with the Prime Minister of Sweden, Olf Christersson, the file of his country's membership in the alliance.

Stoltenberg said in a tweet, on Wednesday, that he had discussions with Christerson on the need to enhance assistance to Ukraine in its legitimate defense against Russia.

And he added that they discussed the importance of completing the process of Sweden's accession to NATO.

He stressed that Turkey's security concerns are considered legitimate, expressing his confidence that Ankara will agree to the membership of Sweden and Finland in the alliance within the framework of the tripartite memorandum of understanding.

On June 28, Turkey, Sweden and Finland signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding regarding the accession of the latter two countries to NATO, after they pledged to respond to Ankara's demands regarding cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
