Iran discovers additional iron ore reserves in center of nation

(MENAFN) Director-general of preparation at Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of Iran (GSI) has declared the discovery of additional iron ore reserves in central Iran, as reported by IRIB.

“Recently, in parts of central Iran, including the provinces of Isfahan, Yazd, Kerman, and Semnan, preliminary exploration operations have been carried out and good iron ore reserves have been discovered,” Reza Jadidi asserted.

Jadidi recorded the nation’s present found iron ore reserves at nearly 3.3 billion tons, stating that “Considering that Iranian steel industries consume about 100 million tons of crude iron ore annually we have serious limitations on the amount of iron ore reserves in the country.”

As shown by the representative, the nation’s present iron ore reserves can just reach the local request only for 15 years, which is not a positive condition.

He highlighted that “This calls the need for strict planning for the exploration of new iron ore reserves in the country.”
