Vice leader states Saudis eager to reopen discussions with Iran
(MENAFN) Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, Iran’s vice leader for parliamentary matters, on Wednesday labelled his gathering with Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan in Brazil as “detailed” and stated that the Saudi side voiced eagerness to reopen talks with Tehran.
Hosseini had taken trip to Brazil to participate in a ceremony in which Lula da Silva was on oath in as leader on Sunday. Dignitaries from other nations had also contributed in the top-level inauguration ceremony.
Hosseini stated that the Saudi foreign minister payed attention to his comments “patiently and expressed his views.”
Iran and Saudi Arabia have been at odds around specific problems, the most vital of which is the Saudi-ran conflict on Yemen.
Iraq has until now mediated five series of discussions among Iran and Saudi Arabia.
“The main subject was what will be the destiny of the dialogue between Iran and Saudi Arabia which has been initiated with the mediation of Iraq. They (Saudi Arabia) announced their readiness to resume the dialogue,” Hosseini mentioned that following a cabinet gathering.
