Canada estimates food bill to surpass USD11,900 yearly for average family

(MENAFN) Inflation is going to carry on to eat away at Canadian wallets as the average grocery expenses for a family of four is going to come higher than 16,000 Canadian dollars (USD11,900) yearly next year, based on an additional report issued on Monday.

That is surging higher than 1,000 Canadian dollars (USD740) from this year, with inflation estimated to hit as high as 7 percent in the upcoming year. But costs raised higher than estimated this year, and surges might rise even more next year.

"Last year, we were predicting prices to go up by as much as 7 percent and many, many claimed that those predictions were alarmist," as stated by Dalhousie University's Sylvain Charlebois, a professor of food nutrition and top author of the next year Food Price Report. "Yet here we are at 10 percent."

Being single is going to be costly, too, when it comes to the grocery expenses. A single woman in her 40s is going to receive a bill nearly USD3,740 on groceries, as well as a single man in that age group USD4,168.
