Abbas: Palestinians will not give up in resisting Israeli takeover

(MENAFN) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday promised to stay steadfast in resisting the decades-long Israeli takeover.

In a televised address at a ceremony in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Abbas announced the Israeli attack will be faced by growing the popular and peaceful resistance and extra action at the worldwide level.

The Palestinian people will not give up and "will remain steadfast in resisting the [Israeli] occupation," he also said.

Abbas further noted the Palestinian Authority will carry on efforts at the international level "to compel Israel to end its occupation and stop its aggression," and to hold Israel answerable for its violations against the Palestinian people.

“Every hour, Israel commits crimes and violations against the [Palestinian] people, land and sanctities,” the Palestinian leader added.

Strain has been running high in the West Bank in recent weeks amid many Israeli attacks to arrest what they say "wanted Palestinians" or to destroy Palestinian homes. The attacks caused clashes with Palestinians, leaving many deaths.
